Hello!
Feeling a little off lately? I get it. With the chaos in the world, trying to juggle all the things, and let’s not forget winter — getting out of bed on those cold, grey mornings is HARD. It’s like climbing Mt. Everest just to get started. 🏔
So, what can we do?
Aside from the usual advice (sleep, diet, exercise), I’ve got something I want you to think about this month. Take a look at your space—your home or office—and ask yourself, Does this feel like a big hug?
Because, here’s the thing: your space is one of the easiest wellness tools you’ve got. When life gets a little crazy, creating a space that feels comforting and aligned can make ALL the difference.
Keep reading if you want three super easy ways to make your home or office feel like a hug – cozy and GOOD – fast.
And if you need design help or just want to chat about your space, hit me up anytime. And if you know someone who could use a little love in their space, feel free to share this with them!
Sending lots of 💛,
Gala
#1: Reassess Your Space: Does Your Home or Office Feel Like a Hug?
The first step in creating a nurturing, wellness-driven space is to take a moment and really assess your environment. Ask yourself these two essential questions:
- Is this space a “heck yes” or a “nope”?
- If it’s a “nope,” ask yourself why.
Chances are, it’s because your space feels disjointed, outdated, or doesn’t reflect who you are today. Maybe it’s filled with things that no longer serve you—things you inherited, things that were once useful but now feel out of place. Or perhaps it’s simply time for a change, but you haven’t taken a good look at it objectively until now.
Consider this a space detox! Identify what no longer supports your well-being and start fresh. Your home or office should feel in alignment with your current self and your future goals.
#2: What's mISSING IN YOUR SPACE?
Take a few minutes to reflect on what you truly need in your life. What’s missing? What would bring you more joy, peace, or creativity?
For example, if you feel a lack of vibrancy, you might want to add more color and inspiration to your surroundings. If you crave relaxation, perhaps softer, neutral tones with comfortable textures would bring that peaceful energy into your space.

#3: CREATE TWO MOOD BOARDS WITH PURPOSE + STYLE
Now, it’s time to get practical. We’re going to break it down into two mood boards that will help you curate the perfect space that speaks to your style and needs.
Mood board #1: Hero Images
Start by collecting three inspirational images of spaces that reflect the vibe you want for your home or office. These are your “hero images”—think of them as your guiding design principles.
To make sure everything feels cohesive, ensure the three images are in the same style (like modern, bohemian, minimalist, etc.). If you’re not sure, ask yourself, “Are these going to the same party?” If they are, you’re on the right track.
If you need extra help, try using AI to check if the images align with the same interior design style. You can also ask, “How would you describe this design style?” to help guide your shopping choices in the next step.
Mood Board #2: Shopping List
Once you have your three hero images, make a list of the items you want to swap out or add to your space. As you shop, keep your hero images close by and if you got the name of the design style you like in the previous step, use filters while you shop to only show you things from that style. When you find something, ask yourself: “Is this piece going to my design party?” If it fits, add to cart! If not, keep searching.
After you’ve selected all your pieces, you can use mood board software like Miro, or if you’re old school, print everything, cut it out and paste it on a single page. And again, look at it as a whole and make sure it feels cohesive and that everything you’ve selected works well together or as I like to say “is going to the same party”. This step is crucial for ensuring your design feels cohesive and harmonious. A well-curated space will feel like it’s in flow, supporting your well-being.
Once everything feels aligned, make your purchases, and get ready to install!
CONCLUSION: TRANSFORM YOUR SPACE INTO A WELLNESS SANCTUARY
Whether you’re designing your home or office, creating a space that feels like a hug is all about mindfulness and intention. With just a few steps—reassessing your environment, doing a life check-in, and creating purposeful mood boards—you can transform any room into a sanctuary that nurtures your well-being.
