LUXURY INTERIOR DESIGN AND A CARDBOARD SIGN
I recently moved into an apartment and had the chance to take all my art out of storage, creating an art gallery wall. As I was selecting pieces, I came across a hand-painted cardboard sign rich with history. Here it is:
You see, this sign found me (Bye Felicia! is a line from one of my favorite movie’s- Friday). My friends and I had just finished marching in an anti-Trump rally here in New York City and were heading to get something to eat when all of the sudden, I spotted it laying against a barricade. It called for me and I swear that finding it was like opening up a gift on Christmas morning. Pure luxury.
Fast forward to a couple years later when Biden won the election and my mom and I headed to Union Square and then Washington Square Park to celebrate with everyone. Without thinking about it, I ran to the garage and grabbed the sign to bring.
When I tell you the reaction it got, you wouldn’t believe me. It brought a smile to everyone’s face that saw it. People wanted to take photos with me and the sign and in some cases, borrow the sign to take a photo of themselves. I’m sure we showed up in the back of a newscast somewhere! I felt like the happiest person alive as we danced in the streets to music, celebrated and I waved the sign in the air.
HOW CAN A CARDBOARD SIGN FEEL LUXURIOUS?
I define true luxury interior design as the experience of health, well-being, and living authentically in alignment with your soul. This hand-painted cardboard sign embodies all those elements for me. Every time I look at it on my gallery wall, it reminds me of how magical life can be, bringing feelings of hope and happiness. Is there any better luxury than feeling good? In today’s fast-paced, stressed-out world, I don’t think so.
