Hello!
I just got back from Highpoint Market (which is held twice a year in High Point, North Carolina, and is the largest home furnishings industry trade show in the world 🤯). And while I don’t believe in blindly following interior design trends (more on that below), there were recurring elements—bold patterns, natural marble, vertical sculptures, and tactile wall art—that sparked some serious joy and inspiration that I’d love to share with you.
So why don’t I believe in design trends? Because our whole design approach and philosophy at GMD is that our spaces are a reflection of ourselves. That means designing from the inside out—starting with what supports your wellbeing, your needs, and your personal style. Instead of chasing fast-changing design fads, we focus on holistic interior design principles that prioritize intentionality, natural elements, and emotional connection to your space. This season’s emerging trends happen to align beautifully with those values.
So this month, I’m not only inviting you to check out some of the latest in design, but also to sit back, take a look around your space and ask yourself:
“Am I happy in my space? What do I love? And what’s weighing me down?”
And then, when you’re inspired or have simply had enough… to go and do something about it!
And as always, if you have questions, want to share your story, or need support with your space, I’m here — just hit reply. If this message might resonate with someone you love, please feel free to forward it and help spread the word. 🙏🏼
Sending you lots of 💛,

1. HOLISTIC DESIGN TREND: BOLD & BALANCED PATTERNS
In 2025, patterns in interior design are having a moment—especially geometric and organic prints. From a holistic perspective, geometric patterns represent the element of fire, meaning they add energy to a space. So – when adding patterns – think – ‘How much energy do I want to add?’ In a room where you want to feel very energized, you may want to go bold with a key piece, like a sofa or wallpaper in a colorful pattern that really dictates what happens in the rest of the room.
For rooms where you’d like to feel a calm energy, maybe patterns are less bold and more organic. They may also be in neutral colors rather than in bright or bold tones. They can also be added on a smaller scale in the form of a pillow or a throw so that they’re less of a focal point.
Patterns not only add interest to a room otherwise full of solids, but they’re also a way to have fun. Most importantly – when adding a pattern – it’s important to choose something you love, that feels like you!
2. Holistic Design Trend: Natural Marble Accents
Marble furniture and decor dominated the show floor—and we love to see it!
Marble is a natural stone, meaning it’s a biophilic element, which is so important to holistic interior design. This also makes it a great way to bring Nature into your home, which has so many benefits including improved mood and reduced stress.
This year’s marble pieces also embraced biomorphic shapes – meaning that they were rounded, curvy and organic rather than sharp. This is another thing we love to see as holistic interior designers – because there are no right angles in Nature! Furniture in biomorphic shapes, especially in natural materials like marble, promote a sense of calm and sanctuary in a home.
Like pattern, marble pieces are another way to add a bit of fun and personality into your space. At Highpoint – there were many large scale, oversized pieces on display, which is a great way to try something bold, but not overly wild.
3. Holistic Design Trend: Sculptural Vertical Totems
We were pleasantly surprised to see vertical totems as a recurring theme at Highpoint.
Totems represent the wood element in Feng Shui, making them a great way to bring growth and upwards energy into a space.
Totems are also a way to bring a different sort of art into your home. They work especially great in small corners that ‘need something’ where maybe wall mounted art isn’t quite right or doesn’t fit.
There are so many different options for these sort of sculptural pieces (see a few that we loved below!) so it’s important to pick one that speaks to you and feels natural in your space. Choosing something in natural materials is the way to go to still bring an element of fun, but not be over the top.
4. Holistic Design Trend: 3D & Textural Wall Art
We saw an exciting shift from traditional prints to handmade, three-dimensional wall art using natural textures—especially tapestries and textile pieces.
Tapestries are a great alternative to typical framed artwork. They lend a softer feeling and are also a great way to add something large-scale that doesn’t overwhelm. They also add additional acoustic + tactile benefits.
Again – they’re a fantastic way to add personality, depth and fun to your space.
Final Thoughts: Design From the Inside Out
Trends are fun—but they’re only powerful when they serve you. Use them as tools, not rules.
So as you explore these 2025 interior design trends, I encourage you to stay rooted in what resonates with your soul. Let your space become a sanctuary—a place that supports your energy, your creativity, and your joy.
