It was a full-🟡 moment. I earned my certification in Holistic Interior Design in 2018, and from that point on, I’ve been fascinated by how our spaces influence our well-being. I’ve always wanted to share this approach with the world, and now, seven years later, I’m on TV talking about it! Pinch me!
Sooooo, from the TV screen to your inbox—here are 5 easy things you can do to harness the energy of Spring and improve your space using holistic interior design spring cleaning and design tips.
If you have any questions, want to share your experience, or need interior design help, you know where to find me—just comment below! And if you know someone who might benefit from this message, please feel free to share and amplify 🙏🏼.
Sending lots of 💛,

#1: Declutter with Intention: A Holistic Method for Spring Cleaning
One of the first steps in a holistic interior design spring refresh is to declutter. But this isn’t just about getting rid of stuff— spring cleaning through a holistic lens is about decluttering with intention. When clearing out items, consider their value in your life. Ask yourself:
- Does this item bring joy or serve a functional purpose?
- Is it adding value to my space, or is it simply occupying space?
- Could it be better utilized by someone else?
By sorting your belongings into three categories—keep, donate, and toss—you create a space that aligns with your needs and values. A clutter-free home not only looks better but also helps promote positive energy flow throughout the space and creates spaces for new opportunities to come into your life, an essential principle in holistic interior design.
#2: Prioritize Wellness-Boosting Touches
A holistic design makeover is an ideal opportunity to prioritize your well-being. Adding elements that boost mood and improve air quality can have a significant impact on your physical and mental health.
Houseplants are a great way to introduce natural energy and wellness into your home. Not only do plants purify the air (spring cleaning bonus), but they also bring life and vibrancy to your space. Consider plants like snake plants, pothos, or peace lilies, which thrive in various lighting conditions and are known for their air-purifying properties.
Another wellness-boosting touch is an essential oil diffuser. A diffuser filled with lavender, eucalyptus, or citrus oils can promote relaxation, reduce stress, and uplift the energy in your home. The right scents can also have therapeutic benefits, helping to create a healthier and more harmonious environment.
#3: Rearrange for Productivity with Feng Shui
Feng Shui, an ancient practice that focuses on the flow of energy, is one of the 12 tenets from of our Beyond Spaces methodology. By arranging furniture in a way that promotes balance and energy flow, you can create a more productive and calming environment.
Start by evaluating the layout of your rooms. In your home office or workspace, position your desk so that you can face the door without being directly in line with it—this is known as the “command position” in Feng Shui. This arrangement allows you to feel empowered and in control of your environment. In addition, practice spring cleaning in your office: Keep the area around your workspace tidy and free from unnecessary clutter to encourage clear thinking and focus.
In living areas, use furniture placement to create a sense of openness and positive energy flow. Avoid blocking pathways and keep the space open to promote easy movement and conversation. When you arrange your space with Feng Shui principles, you can boost both productivity and relaxation in your home.
#4: Add Personal Rituals to Encourage Wellness
A holistic spring refresh isn’t just about redesigning your space—it’s also about incorporating rituals that support wellness. Set aside a corner or nook in your home to dedicate to mindfulness practices. This “calming corner” can encourage daily habits that promote relaxation, digital disconnection and mental clarity.
Create a space that serves as a ‘sanctuary’ where you can engage in yoga or meditation. Arrange workout equipment, a soft yoga mat, or a meditation cushion in this area. Add candles, incense, or essential oils to deepen your practice and invite tranquility into your routine.
Keep a journal nearby for daily reflections or gratitude practices. Thoughtfully placed rituals can serve as gentle reminders to prioritize your mental and physical well-being, creating a space that supports both your mind and body.
#5: Welcome Color and Light: Small Touches with Big Impact
Color and light are two of the most powerful tools in holistic interior design. They can completely transform the energy of a room, and small changes can have a big impact on how you feel.
For energizing spaces, choose bright, warm colors like yellow, orange, or red to add vibrancy and stimulate creativity. Add these colors through throw blankets, pillows, or other accessories to give your home a boost of positive energy.
If you’re seeking a more peaceful atmosphere, opt for calming hues like muted blues, greens, or lavender. These colors can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. In addition to color, think about lighting. Natural light is always ideal, but you can enhance your space with soft, warm lighting or strategically placed lamps and candles. Lighting sets the tone for any room, helping you feel either relaxed or energized depending on the time of day and the desired atmosphere.
This spring, let your home reflect the season of renewal and growth with a holistic design makeover. By spring cleaning + decluttering with intention, prioritizing wellness, and creating a space that supports both productivity and relaxation, you’ll invite positive energy into your home—and your life.
