An Urban Sanctuary Focused on Wellness
Drawing on certifications in WELL, Feng Shui, Holistic Interior Design and Healthy Materials, we infused this three bedroom, 4 bathroom Manhattan apartment with intentional color, natural materials, and smart-home elements designed to elevate daily routines, support overall well-being and ultimately, enrich our Client and her family of five’s quality of life.
Project Scope
Full remodel, furnishings, art & decor
At its core, wellness-focused design relies on biophilia—the intentional act of bringing the outdoors in. For this living room, we positioned Nature as the protagonist, ensuring the interior palette never compet-ed with the sweeping views of the East River. Through a tonal medley of cream, beige, and dusty blue, paired with organic, curved silhouettes and natural materials, the space serves as a soft, thoughtful departure from the rigid grid of the surrounding urban environment.
To maximize the home’s footprint, we opened the kitchen to create a fluid, multifunctional hub where our client can cook, work, or entertain without sacrificing the sprawling East River sightlines—or a watchful eye on her three young children.
Custom cabinetry and millwork strike a balance between crisp, modern geometry and the organic warmth of honeyed wood. In a nod to architectural ingenuity, fluted travertine detailing adds rich texture while cleverly disguising an immovable gas line, transforming a structural constraint into an intentional design feature.
The primary suite was designed as an ethereal retreat for the senses – a true sanctuary. A balanced palette of cream, alabaster, and beige unfolds through an array of plush, refined textures—from tactile wallcoverings that introduce soft tones and depth to the architectural presence of a stone floating desk, positioned to inspire “big picture” thinking and clarity of mind. Each element, including the bespoke upholstered furnishings and crisp natural linens, adds a quiet warmth that anchors the serene environment. Integrating seamless technology, the automated window treatments and lighting serve as the suite’s silent heartbeat.
Programmed to align with circadian rhythms, the blinds rise gently with the morning sun and the lighting softens at twilight, fostering a more intuitive way to wake and wind down while supporting profound rest and restoration.
For our client’s son, we designed a space that balances high-energy play with quiet concentration. A custom corridor of monkey bars serves as a playful outlet for movement, while a Scandinavian-inspired desk is tucked into a fixed alcove—intentionally positioned out of sight from the bed to create an energetic separation that fosters focus.
Deep, grounding blue tones and custom woodwork provide a stabilizing backdrop for this multifunctional space, where automated lighting and nestled nooks transition the room from a bright, active play-zone into a secure, cocooning environment for rest.
For the daughters’ shared room, we designed a spirited haven for imagination, anchored by a vibrant freeform mural and rounded velvet silhouettes. This space celebrates movement and rest in equal measure, featuring a colorful custom climbing wall that leads down to a pillowy floor bed for reading and reflection. Ethereal cloud pendants and nurturing pastel tones create a soft, artistic atmosphere that carries into the adjacent bath, where scalloped tiles playfully evoke a mermaid’s tail, ensuring every corner of the suite feels dynamic and inspired.
