This month we get to share our latest Residential Design Project in Westchester, NY designed in our signature style: Eclectic Modernism Pop. As we’ve began working on more and more residential projects we’ve grown to love working with people to make their houses a home. And while on the commercial side we’re known for “Bringing Brands To Life”. I like to think of residential as “Bringing People’s Lives and Homes to Life.” Check out our recap of the project below along with some shots from the project and how offices are becoming way more like homes these days.
WESTCHESTER RESIDENTIAL
For the past year (and then some due to the joys of the Post-Covid supply chain), we’ve had the pleasure of working with a wonderful family on the design of their new home in Westchester. After relocating from New York City to the suburbs, the couple, along with their toddler and dog, were excited to have more space, sunlight and access to the outdoors and wanted to create a home that was modern and warm with touches of fun.
Our goal was to incorporate current pieces that would compliment rather than fight with the traditional architecture of the home. We included a sleek, yet very comfortable sectional in an unexpected color (one of our client’s favorites) and selected fun and modern artwork to create an updated and personalized feeling.
From the dining room to the study, each room had a twist – whether it was a ceiling painted in an accent color or an oversized ode to the family pet. And as holistic interior designers, no room would be complete without a touch of nature. Luckily our clients were all about plants and natural wood finishes. POST-PANDEMIC: COMMERCIAL GOES RESIDENTIAL
Though many are beginning to return to the office after working exclusively from home for so long, they won’t exactly be returning to the type of office that they knew. As they try to adjust to employees that enjoy the comforts and privacy of working from home, many companies are requesting comfortable spaces that feel residential rather than the rows and rows of desks and cubicles of the old days.
For our most recent office design project, our client, Yousician, asked us to create a ‘chill room’ where small collaborations could take place or where employees could go to sit quietly to take a break or be inspired. We incorporated soft couches with a higher pile rug than normal for a soft, home-y feeling, and a larger than life coffee table where guests can put their feet up or gather for socialization.
Though this is the most ‘residential’ space we’ve created in an office so far, we’ve been creating ‘resi-mercial’ spaces for some time now. When creating a mindful office, we’ve always stressed the importance of having varied spaces for employees where they feel more like they’re home, or they can step away from their desks and switch gears to collaborate or sit to enjoy a meal or a quiet moment.
