Hello!
Since the month of February is all about LOVE, we thought what better month to share some of the Mexican and Latin American artisans that we LOVE.
And for those of you who appreciate unique design from across the globe, I also wanted to share an online shop we’re obsessed with: Adorno.Design. You can browse by category, material, or country, making it incredibly easy to find your next favorite piece that sparks some serious joy.
I hope these artisans and their stories inspire you as much as they inspire us.
Sending you lots of ,
Joyful Objects, Yes! | Playful Mexican Design That Sparks SOME SERIOUS Joy
In a design world that can sometimes feel overly serious, Joyful Objects, Yes! reminds us that interiors should make us smile.
Founded by industrial designer Joy Valdez in Mexico City, Joyful Objects, Yes! (often known as JOYJOY) is on a mission to prove that high design can be elevated AND delightful. Their pieces are a vibrant celebration of “fun,” featuring wavy silhouettes and playful colors. By using traditional Mexican materials like chuspata (a natural fiber), Joy creates furniture and decor that feel alive, emotional, and of course, purely joyful.
Caralarga | Sustainable Mexican Textiles with Soul
For those drawn to natural materials and slow, intentional craftsmanship, Caralarga offers a stunning example of conscious design rooted in tradition.
Based in a historic cotton factory in Querétaro, Caralarga is a women-led textile workshop that finds “raw beauty” in the overlooked. They are famous for their large-scale wall hangings and lighting made from raw cotton thread and repurposed textile waste. Their work is a masterclass in sustainability and patience, with each piece hand-knotted by local artisans to honor the natural essence and heritage of the materials.
Mestiz | Where Mexican Folklore Meets Contemporary Design
For those that love interiors that tell a story, Mestiz creates pieces that feel both ancient and completely modern.
Architect and designer Daniel Valero, San Miguel de Allende based founder of Mestiz, creates what he calls “wild objects.” The brand is a beautiful collision between contemporary design and the mysticism of Mexican folklore. By collaborating with master saltillo weavers, potters, and woodworkers, this latin american artisan creates imaginative furniture and ceramics that feel like they’re straight out of a colorful, surrealist dream.
Casa Cruz Rugs | Handwoven Rugs from Oaxaca
True heirloom pieces carry history in every fiber—and Casa Cruz rugs are no exception .
Tucked into the Zapotec weaving village of Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, the Cruz family has been perfecting traditional rug-making for generations. At Casa Cruz, natural dyes are still made the old-fashioned way: by using foraged ingredients like indigo, pomegranate, and cochineal to create a beautiful, earthy range of colors. Each rug is created on a pedal loom, and the history and heritage woven into every single thread can truly be felt.
They also offer rug making classes where they show you how their rugs are made and it’s an absolute must if you ever visit Oaxaca, Mexico. Below is my most recent purchase from them.
Tu Taller Design | Modern Colombian Furniture with Architectural Edge
For lovers of clean lines and culturally grounded design, we present: Tu Taller Design.
Tu Taller Design feels like the future of Colombian design. Led by David Del Valle and based in Medellín, the studio blends cutting-edge manufacturing with deep respect for traditional craftsmanship. They play with geometry and local materials to create furniture that’s sleek and modern, but still grounded in heritage. It’s that balance we love: clean and architectural, yet soulful and unmistakably rooted in place.
Why We Love These Latin American Artisans for Collected, Soulful Interiors
What I love most about each of these makers is how deeply personal their work feels as well as the use of natural materials. From joyful silhouettes in Mexico City to handwoven rugs in Oaxaca and sculptural furniture coming out of Medellín, these pieces aren’t just decor—they carry story, heritage, and heart. As designers, we’re always searching for work that brings depth and soul into a space, and these Latin American artisans do exactly that. I hope their craftsmanship inspires you to choose pieces that feel collected, meaningful, and full of life.
